Q&As 2019 and 2020

THE AUSTRALIAN DREAM

Q & A with Director Dan Gordon, Ken Monkou, Anita Asante and Jamal El Sheikh
Adam Goodes was one of the most beloved and decorated stars of the Australian Football League until he spoke out against racism. Then the nation turned on him. Walkley award-winning writer Stan Grant and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Dan Gordon (Hillsborough and George Best: All By Himself) take us on a powerful and moving journey that has many parallels with what is happening with Racism in the UK and USA now, and shows us why words matter in this universal story of overcoming discrimination and prejudice.
We had a very special Q&A with director Dan Gordon, Ken Monkou (former Chelsea star and Feyenoord Rotterdam player) and Anita Asante multi-capped ex-England player and current player for Chelsea FC Women
Presented with Show Racism the Red Card.
Click on link here to watch the great discussion we had on Thursday 18 June 2020 - thank you to our wonderful panel and to our audience for their great questions and the feedback we have had since, many many conversations have been sparked.

Q&A with Director Jessica Hynes (The Fight)

The Fight is a 2018 British family drama film, the debut as writer-director for Jessica Hynes.

Tina lives in a quiet seaside town but her life is anything but quiet - her mother is threatening to leave her father, her daughter is being bullied and she and her husband Mick are juggling full-time jobs and three children. Determined to ditch the dysfunction and beat her inner demons, Tina puts on her fighting gloves - literally, stepping into the boxing ring to sweat out her anxieties and punch up her self-worth. But does she have what it takes to get her family off the ropes and emerge victorious?

The film was screened on the closing night of HBFF 2019 and was followed with a Q and A with director Jessica Hynes.
