Every year, a remote Kurdish village celebrates the return of the storks. An irrepressible mother of eight, 74-year-old Khadijeh displays a defiant humour while caring for her elderly and demanding husband Majid. When a wounded stork falls into her world, she forms a fiercely protective bond and is determined to save it for migration in the spring. To her dismay, her youngest daughter is also preparing to migrate to join her husband in the UK. Beautifully filmed, this deeply moving and poetic film is an essay on loss and love, letting go and holding on and the inevitability of change.
